About Acne Rosacea
Rosacea (roz-ay-sha) or persistent redness of the skin affects thousands of Australians. Rosacea is believed to be hereditary, but can worsen with exposure to various triggers including extreme temperatures, sunlight, stress and certain medications and foods.
Active acne are best treated with an initial glycolic peel to prepare the skin followed by 4 laser sessions over the following 4 week period to destroy acne bacteria.
Acne Rosacea Symptoms
The main symptoms of rosacea include red or pink patches , visible broken blood vessels, small red bumps, red cysts, and pink or irritated eyes.
Most people with the disease may not even know they have rosacea or that it is a diagnosable and treatable condition. Many people just assume they blush easily or have gotten sunburned.
Rosacea characteristically involves the central region of the face, causing persistent redness or transient flushing over the areas of the face and nose that normally blush -- mainly the forehead, the chin and the lower half of the nose.
It is commonly seen in people with fair or light skin, and Rosacea is considered a chronic (long-term), non-curable skin disease with periodic ups and downs.
As opposed to traditional acne, most adult patients do not "outgrow" rosacea. particularly in those of Irish and Scottish backgrounds.
Acne Rosacea Treatment
New technology, however, now offers a way to permanently reduce redness. We use a Medical Class Laser to target the tiny blood vessels near the surface of the skin. These vessels are heated, destroying malfunctioning capillaries so that blood flow will be directed to the deeper blood vessels, where it belongs. The body then reabsorbs these damaged cells, naturally eliminating them along with other waste materials. Treatment is safe, fast and gentle.
In just one session the appearance can be dramatically improved. Regular treatments will see the symptoms generally disappear.
For less severe rosacea, we also offer chemical peels. A carefully selected mixture of chemical solutions gently applied to the skin produces a separation and peeling of the skin's outer layers. This stimulates the production of new skin from beneath, evening skin texture and tone.
